Why We Build Mobile Products Offline-First
Why EacTech designs mobile apps and games around a local source of truth, how that shapes Scanzia, Mystery Word and FootyQuiz, and the trade-offs it brings.

Scanzia is a mobile document scanner and PDF toolkit currently being developed by EacTech. It brings the document tasks people usually spread across several apps — scanning paper, creating and reading PDFs, reordering pages, merging, splitting, signing and sharing — into one focused mobile app.
The idea behind Scanzia is simple: a phone should be a complete tool for everyday paperwork. A receipt, a signed contract, a page of notes or a copy of a form should take seconds to capture and seconds to send, without first uploading it to a server the user did not choose.
Scanzia is one of four products in the EacTech portfolio. It is in development and is not yet available to download.
Scanzia is designed for people who handle documents on their phone regularly and want the job done quickly, without juggling multiple apps.
Receipts, bills, letters, warranties and forms that need to be kept, found again or sent on.
Invoices, signed agreements and expense records that have to leave the phone as clean PDFs.
Notes, handouts and assignments that need to be scanned, combined and submitted as a single file.
Travelers and field workers who need document tools that keep working with a weak or missing connection.
Mobile document work is often fragmented. One app scans, another merges, a third signs, and a fourth is needed just to move a page. Many tools upload documents to the cloud by default, put basic actions behind sign-up screens, or take too long to open when a document is needed right away.
That friction appears at exactly the wrong moment: at a counter, in a meeting, or minutes before a form is due. Scanzia aims to remove it by keeping the whole core workflow — capture, organize, edit and share — in one place, running on the device.
Scanzia is organized around four steps that match how people actually handle a document, with offline operation as a design constraint rather than an afterthought.
Multi-page camera scanning that produces flat, legible pages and collects them into a single document.
A local library with folders, names and search, so documents can be found again without scrolling a camera roll.
Page-level PDF tools — reorder, rotate, remove, merge, split and sign — that work on the phone.
Export as PDF and hand documents to any app through the system share sheet.
Scope
The core features below define Scanzia's intended scope. They are being built now and may change before release.
Capture paper documents with the phone camera, with page detection and perspective correction so scans come out flat and readable.
Combine one or many captured pages into a single PDF, ready to save or send.
Open and read PDF files from the device, including documents received from other apps.
Keep documents in a clear local library with folders, renaming and quick search by name.
Move, rotate and remove pages inside a document without re-scanning it.
Join several PDFs into one file, in the order you choose.
Extract a page range or break a long document into separate files.
Add a signature to a document directly on the phone before sharing it.
Send documents through the system share sheet to email, messaging or file storage apps.
Not committed. These areas are being considered for after the core experience is complete.
Recognizing text in scanned pages so documents become searchable and text can be copied.
Reducing PDF file size for email attachments and upload limits.
Helpers such as suggested file names and document-type detection to reduce manual filing.
Optional sync across devices. Any sync feature would be opt-in, with local storage remaining the default.
Assistance such as summaries or field extraction, considered only where it is clearly useful and compatible with privacy-conscious handling.
Offline-first. The core tools are designed to run on the device and not depend on a network connection. Documents are stored locally by default. Any feature that needs the network, such as optional sync, should be clearly labeled as such.
Privacy-conscious by design. Documents often contain personal, financial or legal information. Scanzia is being built to handle as much as possible on the device and to avoid collecting document content.
Fast to the first action. Opening the app and starting a scan should take as few steps as possible, and common edits should never require exporting to another tool.
Focused scope. Scanzia starts with the document workflow most people need and adds capabilities such as OCR or compression only when they can be done well.
These principles are shared across all EacTech products. Read more about EacTech's approach to product development or the Build Note on Why We Build Mobile Products Offline-First.
Under active development. Not yet available to download. The core capture, organization and PDF editing workflow is being built first. OCR, compression and sync are later areas of work.
Scanzia is not yet available on the App Store or Google Play, and there is no public beta at this time.
EacTech does not announce release dates before they are confirmed. When Scanzia’s status changes, this page will be updated first, including confirmed platforms and official store links.

Scanzia is being built as a mobile app for phones, with iOS and Android as the planned platforms. Platforms will be confirmed on the Scanzia product page when the app is released.
Yes, that is a core design goal. Scanzia is designed offline-first: scanning, organizing and PDF editing are intended to run on the device without a network connection, and documents are stored locally by default.
The planned core PDF tools are creating PDFs from scans, reading PDFs, reordering, rotating and removing pages, merging PDFs, splitting PDFs, signing PDFs and sharing documents. Compression is planned as a later addition.
OCR (text recognition) is a planned future area for Scanzia, not part of the initial core scope. It will be listed as a feature on the Scanzia page once it is confirmed.
